The Yoko Factor is B.S.

After Spain's began its World Cup run with a 1-0 loss to Switzerland, the English media tried to push stories of goalkeeper and captain Iker Casillas' television reporter girlfriend Sara Carbonero being blamed for the defeat simply for being present. It turned out she really wasn't and she certainly isn't being blamed for anything now as Spain lifts the World Cup trophy for the first time.

And then, cute vid: Casillas celebrates with teary smooch on his reporter WAG.

Say it with me now: aaaaaawwwww.

And all the haters to the left? The ones that blamed her for losing a game for simply being present, even ignoring the fact that she wasn't present? Can go fuck themselves.

Day 2

30 DAYS OF TV MEMECollapse )

Day 02 - A show that you wish more people were watching
I'm a fan of Joshua Jackson and "X-Files" so When "Fringe" popped up, I just couldn't help myself.

Unlike The X Files, or even other shows like Lost, this show answers questions. It has a clear arc where continuity actually means something. The questions posed aren't there just to be mysterious, but ultimately lead somewhere. The plot is intricate and evolving, and it just gets better and better. And then characters? Man, there's another group you just grow to love more and move. Badass Olivia. Peter, who defies definition for why you love him so much. Walter, who is both humorous and heartbreaking. Astrid. Broyles. CHARLIE! Great cast. Plus the ship ain't too bad, either. It started off as friendship, and then a nice slow burn that naturally evolved into something more.

I honestly don't understand why more people don't watch this show. It's better than 90% of what's out there on TV, easily.

30 day meme

Okay, I resisted doing this for as long as I could, mainly because me doing 30 days straight of posting is highly unlikely. But, let's try it.

30 DAYS OF TV MEMECollapse )

Day 1 - A show that should never have been cancelled:
Legend of the Seeker.

God, where do I start? No, wait, I know where to start: The WOMEN. Have you ever been frustrated by TV's inability to write female characters with the same level of love and respect and awesomeness that is so often lavished on the male characters without thought? Yeah, well, this show is for you. Richard may be the "lead character," but really, the most engaging storyplots and best writing are reserved for the ladies. Kahlan and Cara, both vastly different characters but they're also both so freakin' kickass. It's really quite something. Another amazing thing about it is that the fandom did not start foaming at the mouth with the introduction of Cara in s2. Usually in fandom, when a second female character is introduced, often as a so-called "opposite" or "rival" to the original female lead, the fandom wastes no time in cutting her to shreds. Instead, Cara was embraced and loved and celebrated. Yeah, that's right, a fandom that celebrates their female characters, maybe even above their male characters. That's the awesomeness that this show provided.

But, of course, said show had to be cancelled. Never mind the awesome female characters. Never mind the gorgeous setting and character-driven plot. Never mind the action sequences that make your jaw drop, or the world-building that was done. It was cancelled.

Still, the show managed to wrap up almost everything before the end. Brava.

Stonehenge Apocalypse

My thoughts... (spoilers)Collapse )
Elizabeth

Whatever you do...

Do not go see The A Team. It's like the male version of Charlie's Angel, only worse. I didn't think that was possible. Damnit, Bradley Cooper. I loved you so in Alias, but if you continue to play douchebags onscreen, I don't think my love will last. And, Liam Neeson, man you must have swallowed your dignity to play this role. I kinda wept for you and the horrible acting you were forced to commit. I pretty much thought everybody in the movie was an over-arrogant psychopath that needed to die just so the IQ of the rest of the population in the world could go up a few notches.

Dear Movie Industry: STOP VIOLATING CLASSIC TV. First, Charlie's Angels, Transformers, then G.I. Joe, and now this. What's worse is I know Michael Bay is set to helm the Teenage Mutant Ninjas remake. *SOBS* What's next? You're gonna redo The Brady Bunch with Lindsey Lohan, Paris Hilton and Britney Spears playing the girls?

P.S. God, do I hate Jessica Biel. Any movie she's in, you're guaranteed to hate.

Reminder!

Torri Higginson and Misha Collins star in what is assuredly going to be a hilariously bad made-for-tv-movie, Stonehenge Apocalypse. But you could not tear me away from the TV tonight if my life depended on it. Man, I have missed seeing Torri on my tv. Y'all should totally spread the word and post up reminders for people on your flist.

Tonight: SyFy - Stonehenge. Watch it!

Hee!

Also, I'm looking for a new show to watch, and am debating over the following options. Justified, In Plain Sight, The Good Wife, Lie to Me or Glee. Votes?
